So on Wednesday I went travelling again!! I'm never at home! This time it wasn't too far - the Scottish Borders - namely Whithaugh Park. It was for a school 'bonding' trip. I've just started sixth form (at the same school) and there are a couple of new people starting, and it was just a way to get to know everybody. Every year prior to ours has gone to London for the week but it was going to cost in excess of £25,000 to send us all there! So instead we went to an outdoor activity centre in the middle of nowhere. Which actually in hindsight wasn't too bad - and being an instructor at one of those kind of places is what I'd actually like to do for a year or 2. But actually, I'll tell you the tale of events as it happened. I didn't take any pictures at all. It's not exactly allowed on school trips :(
We got there about lunchtime on Wednesday and had lunch in a big hall. We all were told to put on these blue writstbands too, apparently so that they knew we were 'allowed to be on the site'. Not, what I thought, where to return us too if we ran away.
So after that we collected our bedding, but we didn't even get a chance to put it on our beds because someone took too many pillow cases so we had to hunt around a bit for the pillow case stealers. It was a group of boys, obviously. Plus it was kinda cold and starting to look like it was going to rain.
We went back into the hall and told our activities. I was put into a group with only ONE friend. Luckily I had someone to talk to at least. A few of my friends had nobody. Our first activity was orienteering. Not the most exciting of activities - but luckily there was eye candy ;) It was super muddy. Like you've never seen mud before. We were in pairs so luckily I had my friend to go around with. Half way round there was a big muddy swamp that was virtually impassable. I went three sides round a square to get around it and still managed to get wet feet. But my friend, in her wisdom, jumped off a stepping stone right into the mud! It was absolutely hilarious. Funniest thing I'd seen in ages! One of her shoes was blue. The other was brown! So funny. Then we carried on punching our patterns into our little piece of paper (missing one directly in that muddy marsh and having to wade back to get it) and then the heavens opened! It was that really fine misty rain for a long time and then it just absolutely poured down. I got soaking, luckily I had my coat on but I still got drenched. The little piece of paper we had was completely limp from all the rain and I didn't even bother keeping it dry in the end. That was that. We had about half an hour between activities so I went back to our 'lovely' lodge to put on pair of trousers number 3. I was soaked, freezing and probably on my way to getting trench foot / feet. So after that we went climbing :D I love climbing. I didn't put my coat on because I cant really move my arms well in it, and because you need to reach up for climbing, I just left it off. Bad idea. It rained harder than ever! I had only a t-shirt and a hoody on and got drenched. It was minging. So far, I wasn't having a good time. I was having quite a bad time, and had practically already wore half my clothes within 4 hours of getting there. After climbing, we went abseiling which was good, actually.
Wednesday was a short day but it felt like an eternity. We had tea which was chicken korma, and after that we went on a zip wire! I actually like zip wires :) Seb, one of the guys that took us up was absolutely hilarious. I believe funny, good-humoured and generally nice people are what make these kinds of places bearable. It would have been 100 times worse without him and the others just generally having a laugh with us. Also my German teacher was there and she was sorta nervous about zipwiring over the lake, but after she went once she was like a little 5 year old! She was like, 'come on Jordan! Aren't you going again? I am!' So we went again haha.
Then we went home for a little bit then for tea, then for a night walk. A night walk?! I had forgotten my torch. Idiot. Luckily we could mix with friends to talk about 'our dreams' and I could borrow my friends torch. It was awful! Completely dark and I only really had half a torch. It was so muddy and loads of people fell over. I nearly did about 6 times! But I didn't. Seb was our leader again and about an hour into the walk, I felt completely blind and was so super tired, but he was like, 'we're just over half way - we have about an hour left' …what. what! An hour?! Grrrr…
We got back about 12am and we still had to faff on with tutor groups and everything. Finally it was time for bed and we talked for a bit in our room about random stuff haha.
^^ gosh, was that only day one?! Best keep it short!
I've sorta forgotten what happened on Thursday. We got up 7:30am to go to breakfast and after that we did a low ropes course, which was quite rubbish. It was coldish and I got bits of rope stuck in my hand and fingers. Later to find that they were going septic :/ I had to pluck a bit of rope from my palm and a couple from my finger.
After that was archery! I love archery too! Seb was out instructor again and we had a good chat on with him. All the instructors were Christians, so actually some of the conversation was about that… Also Jonno and Fergus - who were these typical outdoorsy people :/
Anyway, we then did canoeing! I was a bit nervous about going canoeing because I was terrified of falling in. I can swim, I just didn't want to get fully drenched. I was only just dry! But it was really cool! I didn't fall in, but some people did! We played 'concequence boat' and you had to get in the concequence boat if the question applied to you, and out if you didn't. Out, as in out of our boat and into the boat next to you in our makeshift raft, mainly held together with my hands, considering my boat was the concequence boat. Anyway, after that should have been swimming but nobody else was going swimming so I went in the shower instead haha! I was alone in my lodge so I had nothing to do (and needed one anyway :P ) Then dinner and games with our tutor groups. By that time I was shattered and couple hardly keep my eyes open. Bed time was around 11 and I actually made myself the most comfortable person. I had a triple chocolate mars bar and some Scottish tap water. Livin' it up. I was so comfy in bed, but had to get down again to put my wrapper in the bin and brush my teeth. Was having a great time until then :)
So then Friday we got up at the same time and zombied to breakfast. We had to do all these little games to get points to built a rocket. I know, rubbish. The games were good but then at the 'shopping for parts' time, I found some friends and eye candy and took no part in building our rocket. It was a good time :) after lunch, we left, but because we wanted to sit on the semi-empty coach, we waited for the last one. Unfortunately the last bus arrived an hour after the second one left. Sitting around being annoyed by wasps. But then we went home :) By the time we left, I didn't want to go home - dispite having a pretty awful time! I wouldn't say I was itching to get back though…
But my Ulrik Munther prize hasn't arrived yet. Got an email from Karl on Tuesday saying he was putting it in the post that evening. Hopefully it will get here this week.
I also ordered a onepiece! They have a 48 hour sale on and a really nice one was reduced! Here shall be mine:

Also, I got home to find Ola's All Over The World was 4Music, The Box and Smash Hit's VIP Track of the Week! I looked on my TV and look what I found!
Ahhh! How cool is that!
I also emailed Therese about maybe getting some Ola stickers printing. She thinks it's a great idea and I already have a prototype sticker:
The background of the QR code will be darker so that it's easier to read, but how cool is that! But Therese also asked where I'd found the TV picture, because she'd seen in on the Street Team UK's Facebook page and it was so nice to see. Aww, I told her and now it's everywhere! His Twitter, Blog, Website, Facebook! Everywhere! Plus I got no recognition. It's alright though because it's not my own work, but it is my TV! It's famous all over the world now! I'm so proud of it! Remember where you saw it first! I would take a picture of the one on The Box but I don't have that channel haha! Smash Hits is only a web and TV radio too so you can't get much information on their VIP track. Plus their website is majorly outdated.
